what a trip! had a blast, but man i am glad to be home. why are vacations so draining? it seemed like everyday there was some sort of major stress. but we still managed to have a blast!
the night before we left, mom was carrying bags out to the car and she tripped in the flowerbed. she turned her ankle, scuffed her knee and palm, and did something to her toe. so she was gimped all weekend!! but she managed to keep up and do all the walking.
thursday morning on our way to the airport we get caught in traffic! lots of traffic. but we finally made it to the airport....just in time to get in line for security! then mom remembers that she left the camera in the jeep. so we called dad and had him bring it back to us! then we head back to the security line. we remove our shoes and jackets, empty all pockets....and hold your breath hoping that the machine doesn't beep! ahhh! we made it! we board the plane and make to dallas on time!
our first stop...IKEA!!! this store is HUGE and was so much more than i expected. it is awesome! the first floor that you go to is rooms set up with their products. big room and small rooms. the neatest one was an entire apartment that was 238 square feet. it had a bed, dining table, kitchen, bathroom, and t.v. room. it was amazing the way that they had everything organized in that tiny space. it actually looked great too! i wouldn't want to live in a space that small, but it is neat to know that it can be done! i purchased some pretty neat things for my room and some cute jars for my scrap crap!

after IKEA we went to dinner at the cheesecake factory. if you are ever near one of these resturants you must eat there! it was amazing. and yes, the cheesecake was great! i even tried the pumpkin cheesecake and it is to die for! the first time that i tried to eat at the cheesecake factory was in hawaii. they have one near waikiki beach. we were going to eat there, but there was a 4.5 hour wait! anyway, each resturant is decorated and is never duplicated. their decorations are made special for them and are cpoyrighted. they are so exclusive, that you are not even allowed to take pictures of the decorations. the one in hawaii was beautiful, as was the one in dallas. here we are eating!

on friday we went to canton, tx to first monday trade days. it is a huge flea/trade market, in fact it is the largest in the world. the town has a population of 5147 people, but on the weekend of this flea market they estimate that 300,000 people come to canton. there were areas of new and of old merchandise. i found an old rusty s and a sugar mold for holding my pens. there were lots of neat things everywhere. and lots of people. we were there for almost 9 hours, and i don't think that we saw even half of the grounds. it was alot of fun, but it was alot of walking! and poor mom with her gimpyness...she walked every inch that we did.
saturday we went to the stock yards in arlington to watch a cattle drive. it was a really neat place. the entire road was very authentic. there were cowboys on horses all along the street. there were even some freash piles of poo! and it stunk! i did figure out this weekend one plan that God does not have for me...and that is wroking with large animals. they freak me out a little. i am pretty sure that i am not meant to be a cowgirl. i am not sure why i thought this....but when brenda said we were going to a cattle drive i was thinking in my head that the cattle would be running. but they just walked...with their heads hanging low! i guess that those horns are pretty heavy. here are some of the pics.
