{ a reason for thanksgiving....

i have discovered a new scrapbooking obsession...digital scrapbooking. this is my first attempt at digital scrapbooking. it was a lot more fun than i thought. i can totally see hoe this could become just as addicting as paper scrapbooking! and the best part is....i can take my computer to work at scrapbook!!! how cool is that!

thanksgiving was great! i scored some great photos of baby ava. and got to spend some time with family that i do not get to see often enough. i miss the ones that weren't able to come, but i hope to see them soon!

adios

{ happy thanksgiving eve....

yes, thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. in thanksgivings past we have had a huge crew. we all go to the eastern part of the state...where my mom and dad grew up. we spend thanksgiving with my dad's side of the family. it is a big family. dad has 7 brothers and sisters. not everyone always makes it, but we still have a crowd. i can remember thanksgivings when we had three or more rotations of people eating. it is one of the traditions for the men and children of the family to eat first. i don't think that it is a shovanist thing, but more of a room predicament. we have been known to have 35+ people at thanksgiving. so the men and children eat....then we wash dishes and the women eat. i guess it is what you do when you have a huge family.

my favorite thanksgiving dish is dressing. i love it. with gravy. don't tell me what is in the gravy....just put a little on there! however, i do not like cranberry sauce. ewwww. favorite dessert...peanut butter ice cream pie. it is so good! funny thing...i don't like peanut butter. my aunt audrey make the best homemade rolls...the best. but she isn't able to make them any longer...so the receipe has been passed down. i can't wait to overeat tomorrow! then it is back home and back to the diet! one day of overeatting won't hurt too much!

i miss the days when all of my cousins and their families were at thanksgiving. i miss seeing all of my little cousins. as we all get stretched to oppposite ends and sides of the state it is hard to get together like we used to. nonetheless, i miss it! we used to pick up pecans in the yard...or play football...play capture the flag. those were the days. back when they used to pick on me and make fun of me. yes, i miss it!

i am taking my camera...they hate the camera! but it will be there!!

hope you all have a great thanksgiving! overeat and be happy!

{ the serenity prayer...

God, grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; and Wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardship As the pathway to peace. Taking as He did, This sinful world as it is not as I would have it. Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His will. That I may be reasonably happy in this life, And supremely happy With Him forever in the next.

while working out last night, i took a break to stretch. as i was walking down the hal,l a poster caught my attention. written on this poster was the first sentence of this prayer. so i googled it today to see the who what and why behind it. and the entire prayer is powerful.

i think it is so awesome how God works. how he "tells" you things without saying a word. how he knows exactly what you need to "hear". how he catches you just before you go off the edge. how he lets you stumble through things and then shows you the path that he has for your life....just one small piece at a time. just in time to remind you to keep the faith.

it is so awesome. my God is awesome. and i am so thankful for that.

{ so glad to be home

what a trip! had a blast, but man i am glad to be home. why are vacations so draining? it seemed like everyday there was some sort of major stress. but we still managed to have a blast!

the night before we left, mom was carrying bags out to the car and she tripped in the flowerbed. she turned her ankle, scuffed her knee and palm, and did something to her toe. so she was gimped all weekend!! but she managed to keep up and do all the walking.

thursday morning on our way to the airport we get caught in traffic! lots of traffic. but we finally made it to the airport....just in time to get in line for security! then mom remembers that she left the camera in the jeep. so we called dad and had him bring it back to us! then we head back to the security line. we remove our shoes and jackets, empty all pockets....and hold your breath hoping that the machine doesn't beep! ahhh! we made it! we board the plane and make to dallas on time!

our first stop...IKEA!!! this store is HUGE and was so much more than i expected. it is awesome! the first floor that you go to is rooms set up with their products. big room and small rooms. the neatest one was an entire apartment that was 238 square feet. it had a bed, dining table, kitchen, bathroom, and t.v. room. it was amazing the way that they had everything organized in that tiny space. it actually looked great too! i wouldn't want to live in a space that small, but it is neat to know that it can be done! i purchased some pretty neat things for my room and some cute jars for my scrap crap!

after IKEA we went to dinner at the cheesecake factory. if you are ever near one of these resturants you must eat there! it was amazing. and yes, the cheesecake was great! i even tried the pumpkin cheesecake and it is to die for! the first time that i tried to eat at the cheesecake factory was in hawaii. they have one near waikiki beach. we were going to eat there, but there was a 4.5 hour wait! anyway, each resturant is decorated and is never duplicated. their decorations are made special for them and are cpoyrighted. they are so exclusive, that you are not even allowed to take pictures of the decorations. the one in hawaii was beautiful, as was the one in dallas. here we are eating!

on friday we went to canton, tx to first monday trade days. it is a huge flea/trade market, in fact it is the largest in the world. the town has a population of 5147 people, but on the weekend of this flea market they estimate that 300,000 people come to canton. there were areas of new and of old merchandise. i found an old rusty s and a sugar mold for holding my pens. there were lots of neat things everywhere. and lots of people. we were there for almost 9 hours, and i don't think that we saw even half of the grounds. it was alot of fun, but it was alot of walking! and poor mom with her gimpyness...she walked every inch that we did.

saturday we went to the stock yards in arlington to watch a cattle drive. it was a really neat place. the entire road was very authentic. there were cowboys on horses all along the street. there were even some freash piles of poo! and it stunk! i did figure out this weekend one plan that God does not have for me...and that is wroking with large animals. they freak me out a little. i am pretty sure that i am not meant to be a cowgirl. i am not sure why i thought this....but when brenda said we were going to a cattle drive i was thinking in my head that the cattle would be running. but they just walked...with their heads hanging low! i guess that those horns are pretty heavy. here are some of the pics.

{ baby Ava

she is here! ava catherine putnam. this little cutie has no chance of being anything but a girly girl! and i promise not to tell her that cheerleaders are bums like my mom did! her nursery is filled with all things girly....pink and green and fluffy things!! the one thing that i didn't see was anything razorback! i guess cousin shantay should take care of that quick!

she is such a sweetheart! although i guess anyone that only sleeps and eats can't be anything but sweet! she is beautiful....these pics don't do her justice! amy said she is a big baby, but she is so tiny! here are some of the pictures that i got of her! can't wait to come back and see you ava!
